Kaushal Kendra: Center for Rural Women Empowerment

Group of men and women standing in front of a rural women empowerment center.

Kaushal Kendra in Bangoli Village

In a significant move to foster economic development, sustainable livelihoods, and self-reliance among rural women, ‘Kaushal Kendra’ operated by Astitva Grameen Hastshilp was inaugurated in Bangoli village, Raipur district. The center aims to equip women artisans with various vocational skills, enhancing their employability and entrepreneurial capabilities.

The center offers training in a range of disciplines, including tailoring, weaving, and handicrafts. These skills are intended to open up new income-generating opportunities for women, enabling them to contribute financially to their families and communities. It is noteworthy that rural women associated with Astitva Grameen Hastshilp, our social enterprise unit, have already been exporting their handicraft items outside India.

Our Partners

We work closely with local village councils and community leaders to drive meaningful socio-economic transformation within villages.

Skill in Action, Jute Craft in the Making

At our Kaushal Kendra (Center for Rural Women Empowerment) in Bangoli village, Chhattisgarh, skilled women artisans are busy transforming natural jute into beautifully handcrafted, sustainable products. With every order completed, these artisans are not just creating eco-friendly alternatives; they are building livelihoods, transforming communities, and offering a powerful answer to the world's growing hunger for sustainability.

What may look like a simple jute product is, in reality, the result of skilled hands, craftsmanship with a conscience, and the spirit of self-reliance.

Astitva Foundation Chhattisgarh is committed to advancing women's empowerment by creating skill-based livelihood opportunities that turn potential into financial independence.

What travels from Bangoli's Kaushal Kendra to the hands of a customer carries with it the fingerprints of women who showed up, learned, created, and earned.

    Our Team

Tanu Sahu, Manager of the Kaushal Kendra in Mura village, shared her excitement, saying that the initiative has opened new doors by equipping them with the resources and opportunities.

    Our Master Trainer

Our trainer, Mrs. Deepali Naidu, conducted a skills development training in block printing, equipping rural women with hands-on techniques and practical knowledge to build sustainable livelihoods.

Impact in Action: From Block to Fabric, From Skill to Livelihood

What begins as fabric becomes a canvas of identity, tradition, and entrepreneurship. At our Kaushal Kendra in Chhattisgarh, rural women are transforming indigenous craftsmanship into meaningful livelihoods through the timeless art of block printing.

What you see in these prints is colour. What we see is empowerment. From intricate floral patterns to bold contemporary motifs, each design reflects artistic talent and cultural heritage — brought to life through opportunity, training, and belief in one's own potential. Through skills development, creativity, and collective strength, women are building sustainable futures.

Support artisan-led livelihoods. Celebrate handmade craftsmanship. Because at Astitva Grameen Hastshilp, they are not just printing patterns — they are printing possibilities.
